Garden creator, author and founder of Känn Trädgården
My name is Camilla Danielsson, and I am the creator of Känn Trädgården – The Sensory Garden, a private garden on Sweden’s West Coast where design, nature, love of plants and wildlife come together in sensory experiences.
For many years, gardens have been both my profession and my passion. Through garden design, writing, guiding and teaching, I have had the opportunity to inspire people to experience gardens not only as beautiful spaces, but as places that engage all the senses, creates awareness and strengthen our belonging to nature.
Känn Trädgården is the result of that philosophy – a deep respect for the garden and contined evolvement with time.

A garden built on curiosity and experience
Like many gardeners, I began with a fascination for plants. Over time, my interest expanded to include garden design, landscape character, sustainability and the emotional impact that outdoor spaces can have on our well-being.
The idea behind Känn Trädgården grew from a simple question:
”How can a garden become an experience rather than just something to look at?”
Today, the garden encourages visitors to explore through fragrance, texture, sound, colour and seasonal change. Every part of the garden has been developed with the ambition of creating a richer and more meaningful experience of nature, as well as to give space for biodiversity, pollinators and wildlife.
Scandinavian garden design
My work is strongly influenced by the Nordic landscape and the changing seasons.
Rather than creating a garden with a specific style, I am drawn to designs that feel natural, sustainable and connected to their surroundings. I enjoy combining structure with softness, cultivated plants with natural elements, beauty with eadible and practical gardening with aesthetic expression.
Many visitors describe the garden as a reflection of contemporary Scandinavian garden design, where beauty, biodiversity and functionality are equally important.
Garden writer and author
In addition to designing and developing gardens, I have worked extensively as a garden writer and communicator.
Through articles, books, lectures and educational activities, I have shared knowledge about gardening, design and sensory experiences with audiences throughout Sweden and the Nordic Countries. Communication has always been an important part of my work. I believe that gardens become even more meaningful when we understand the stories, ideas and natural processes behind them.
Garden guide and garden tourism ambassador
I am also actively involved in garden tourism and regularly welcome visitors from Sweden and abroad.
Over the years, I have developed close collaborations with organisations and initiatives that promote garden tourism in West Sweden. This includes work connected to Gothenburg Botanical Garden, regional tourism organisations and networks of private gardens.
I enjoy helping visitors discover the rich diversity of gardens in the Gothenburg region and throughout West Sweden. For international visitors, gardens offer a unique way to understand Swedish culture, landscape and traditions.
Sharing knowledge through guided visits
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is meeting visitors in the garden. Whether welcoming a garden club from Sweden, a group of international travellers or fellow garden professionals, I enjoy sharing both practical gardening knowledge and the ideas that have shaped Känn Trädgården. Each season brings new conversations, new inspiration and new opportunities to learn from one another.
A lovely visit from a garden society in early spring.
Recognition and media
Känn Trädgården has received recognition through publications, media features and garden events, attracting visitors from across Sweden and beyond. While awards and publications are appreciated, what matters most to me is creating meaningful experiences that inspire people to engage more deeply with gardens and nature.
Welcome to Känn Trädgården
Whether you are a passionate gardener, a garden traveller or simply curious about Scandinavian garden design, I hope that a visit to Känn Trädgården will inspire you to see gardens in new ways.
I look forward to welcoming you.
